报告题目:Eigenvalues of Graphs and Their Applications: Survey and New Results
报告摘要:
The topic belongs to the combination of discrete mathematics and spectral graph theory. The eigenvalues of a graph are defined to be the eigenvalues of its adjacency matrix. Although there has been much work on exploring the distribution of eigenvalues of graphs and on finding their applications in the past decades, research into the graphs with applications in applied sciences is still in its infancy and there is much concern that is not well-understood. In this presentation, starting with an introduction of the framework and its development, we first summarize and comment the most recent representatives which show the applications in numerous applied sciences. We then present our new results about the graphs that have multiple eigenvalues, etc. One of our motivations is due to an open problem which recently has been paid much attention.
报告人简介:
Dr. Yong received his Ph.D in computer science from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in July 2002, and then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at DIMACS (NSF center at Rutgers University) until August 2004. During the 2004-05 academic year he served as a lecturer for the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics of Rutgers University and then, in August 2005, joined the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. He has also been a visiting researcher at DIMACS. Earlier in 1991 he earned doctorate in mathematics from Xi'an Jiaotong University.
