报告题目:Front Tracking Method on the Weak Solution of PDE Free Interface Problem and Its Application to Fluid Interface Instabilities, Phase Transition and Fluid Structure Interactions

摘要: In this talk, we will present the front tracking method and its computational implementation to enhance its robustness, conservativeness, and resolution for the computation of hyperbolic and parabolic partial differential equations. We will present the front tracking applications to the study of fluid interface instabilities, phase transition problem, and fluid structure interactions. We will discuss the cut-cell algorithm and the conservative scheme for the applications of crystallization, dissolution, and leaching. Finally we will introduce a mesoscale dual-stress spring model based on Rayleigh-Ritz analysis to mimic the fabric surface in parachute simulation. This model is a large ODE system coupled with the fluid solver through the impulse method. We will discuss how to build such system on the front tracking platform and use this system for the simulation of the parachute inflation and deceleration process. This work is supported in part by the US Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the US Army Research Office.

报告人简介李晓林,纽约州立大学石溪分校应用数学系终身教授。1982年毕业于武汉大学空间物理系,后参加李政道先生主持的CUSPEA(中美物理物理联考)项目赴美国哥伦比亚大学应用物理系读研究生,1987年获哥大理学博士,之后曾在纽约大学库朗研究所,新泽西理工学院,印第安那大学,和纽约州立大学的任博士后研究员,助理教授,副教授和教授。从九十年代起,先后主持多个美国能源部和国防部研究项目。曾经是美国洛斯阿拉莫斯国家实验室,美国海军研究所,爱德华空军基地的访问科学家,台湾大学数学系访问教授。
