报告题目:Principal eigenvalues and dispersal-induced growth

报告摘要:Biologically, we are curious about the following question: How does the movement of individuals influence the persistence of a single population? A surprising phenomenon is that of dispersal-induced growth, whereby the population would become extinct if isolated, but dispersal, at an appropriate rate, can induce the persistence of the population. In this talk, we will discuss this topic based on a two-patch model and introduce the corresponding principal eigenvalue to explain such counter-intuitive effect of dispersal. The focus of this talk is on the applications of principal eigenvalue theory in population dynamics.
个人简介:刘爽,北京理工大学副研究员。博士毕业于中国人民大学,主要研究方向为偏微分方程和生物数学,关注椭圆和抛物算子的特征值理论和多物种的传播性质,在TAMS, JFA, SIAP, SIMA等期刊发表论文多篇。获北京市优秀博士学位论文奖,入选博士后创新人才支持计划,主持国家自然科学基金青年基金项目.
